How many eggs does a curlew lay, and how big are they?

A typical Eurasian curlew clutch has four eggs. Each egg is roughly 68 × 48 mm and weighs about 76 g, which makes them large eggs for a large wader.

The eggs go in a shallow scrape on the ground, usually in open bogs or wet grasslands, which are the curlew's breeding habitat in Latvia. Like the adults, the nest relies on camouflage among grasses and bog vegetation rather than on concealment in cover.

Curlews usually raise one brood a year.
